Hi, and thanks for visiting! My name is Keith, and I started writing Weightingon40 as a way to help others (and myself) make the transition from fat to fit. I started studying health and fitness in 1999 when I first reached 200 pounds, but failed to make that knowledge a part of my everyday life.
On July 21, 2008, however, I reached a turning point in my life. It was my birthday - the first day of the last year of my thirties. After a long look in a full length mirror I thought, "You'd better change - or else." The thought was probably triggered by the fact that upon seeing my reflection, I nearly retched. Seriously. The image to the right should give you an idea why...
Needless to say when I started this site in August 2008, I wasn't in shape. I was fat, unhappy, angry, and just about everything else that makes a person generally miserable.
So what happened to go from what you see above to what you see to the left? I'm not a bodybuilder or a professional weight-loss guru. I don't have access to the latest miracle pill, personal trainers, liposuction, or any other gimmick to lose weight.
In other words, I'm a pretty normal guy. The only thing that changed was this: I just made a decision to get into shape, and I stuck to my goals no matter what.
This website is a chronicle. A day-by-day step-by-step account of my journey from being a lazy lard-butt at 39 to being fabulously fit at 40. More than that, it is a stopping point for people who are looking for help with how to make changes in their overall health and fitness.
I've read volumes of research in the areas of exercise, fitness and diet - over a decade's worth of reading. My mind is an open book here. I'm not holding anything back or selling the "super secrets of success" to a members-only group of people. I'm just a guy who went from fat to fit - and I want to help others achieve the same results.
And if I can do it, anyone can.
So, bookmark me. RSS me. Write the address on the palm of your hand in permanent ink. Whatever it takes to remember to come back and check out the continuously updated comment. If you want to get in touch, just send me a message by email via the form in the right-side margin. I'm here to help in any way I can.
